A 10 million birr gabion factory in Wukro, Tigray State, is National Geo-textile technology plant that has now started operating.
Abdurahim Mohammed, Factory General Manager, informed that the unit built by Dejena Endowment Fund last Ethiopian year had the production capacity of 2700 tons of Gabion wires per year.
These wires are expected to be extremely important for farmers to develop better productivity.
He added that the factory which has currently employed 140 people imports raw materials from abroad and has plans to earn 20 million birr profit this year.
