In the first quarter of 2006, Viet Nam Garment and Textile Group (Vinatex) posted a revenue surge of 104 percent than the previous year (47 billion VND which is about US $2.93 million).

Lots of challenges confront the domestic textile and garment enterprises such as shortage of capital, fluctuating labour market and rise in prices of input materials, estimates Vinatex.

Viet Tien leads the six Vinatex members, hitting 10 billion VND mark, followed by Nha Be company with 7.2 billion VND and Det Phong Phu with 6.4 billion VND.

In a bid to popularize its trademark, Vinatex will jointly host a fashion fair, the VFF, in July 2006.

Abolition of automatic visa granted to eight high-demand categories and US market export quotas not meeting the demands of many enterprises looms heavily over the market.

Vinatex plans to expand by building garment and textile material trading centers in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City and gear up its affiliate fashion and trading companies at home and overseas.
