Officials of Oswal Industries in Ludhiana have revealed their keen interest in pashmina (very fine wool) from the Ladakh region
It is likely to sign up with LAHDC for future collaboration, according to LAHDC Chief Executive Councilor, Chering Dorjee.
Addressing the Board of the All Pashmina Growers Cooperative Society of Changthang in Leh, he said the society of Changthang has collected as much as 3,000 kg of raw pashmina for de-hairing purpose.
A target of acquiring 20,000 kg of pashmina has been set by the society. The growers of two blocks of Nyoma sub-division would be procure ring pashmina during the current year, he said.
Discussions regarding the functioning of the project and the problems faced by the cooperative society in handling the de-hairing plant were discussed during the meet.
