Textile mills, which were once bore strength of character in small towns and cities in South Carolina are now an abandoned lot but prone to fires putting lives of town dwellers at risk.
The old mills often do not have modern fire protection equipments and the wooden walls soaked with oil once used to grease machine parts, are the ones most vulnerable to set the plants on fire.
A blaze at old mills can spread fast and leading to emergency evacuation of hundreds of residents in the town.
Bearing in mind these risks, some mill owners of these deserted mills tear down such dilapidated structures, shortly after they get seal of approval from authorities.
