One of the world's leading producers of engineered materials, Polymer Group, Inc has relocated its corporate headquarters from North Charleston, S.C. to Charlotte, N.C.
The new headquarters in the Harris Corners Business Park brings together about 100 employees in senior leadership, finance, purchasing, human resources, sales, customer service, information technology and other administrative positions.
PGI relocated employees from the former headquarters in North Charleston and offices in Mooresville and Raleigh, N.C. to establish the centralized location and will also move employees from its Dayton, N.J. location in August. The Charlotte office puts the company closer to its customers and manufacturing operations, and aims to increase operational efficiencies and foster greater collaboration across the company.
The new headquarters increases PGI's overall employment in the state to about 480 workers. Last month, PGI completed a $40 million expansion of its Mooresville facility that added about 50 local jobs. The company also has manufacturing operations in Benson, N.C. It employs over 3,300 worldwide.
"As we continue to grow, North Carolina is a great place to headquarter our global business," said James L. Schaeffer, PGI's Chief Executive Officer. "The officials from North Carolina, Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, as well as the local business community, have provided a great amount of support that has helped us thrive here."
