PTT Poly Canada announced that it is raising the price of PTT polymer (polytrimethylene terephthalate) by 6 cents/pound in North America effective August 1.
The increase is due to continued escalation in the cost of raw materials, energy, and transportation.
PTT polymer is marketed globally under the trade name Corterra Polymers and is typically used in carpet, textile and engineering thermoplastic applications.
PTT Poly Canada is a 50/50 joint venture between Shell Chemicals Canada Ltd and Societe generale de financement du Quebec (SGF) and is the world's first commercial-scale manufacturer of polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT), marketed around the world as Corterra Polymers.
The plant is located in the industrial zone of Montreal and has a production capacity of 95,000 metric tones (300 TPD) of polymer.
