Target Corporation has announced the official opening of a 3.1 million square foot campus in Rialto, Calif.

"The new Rialto distribution facility will help us to better meet our guests' needs for merchandise," said Mitch Stover, Senior Vice President, distribution services, Target Corporation.

"We thank the City of Rialto, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, and the State of California for all the support they have provided us since we began construction back in 2004. We look forward to becoming a long-lasting partner to the City of Rialto, not only by helping with new jobs, but also by supporting the community through our philanthropic programs," Stover added.

Regional distribution centers receive shipments from suppliers, ship products directly to Target stores and provide storage space for merchandise. The Rialto distribution center will initially employ 500 team members, with several hundred team members added during the first five years of the facility's operation.

"It is government's responsibility to create a positive business climate, and that is exactly what we've done," said Gov. Schwarzenegger. "We've turned our economy around, cut taxes, lowered workers compensation costs and now we're No 1, once again. Businesses are moving back to California."

The Rialto distribution center, located at Casa Grande and Alder Avenue, is part of the new Rialto-Ontario campus. This will be the largest single investment in an operating unit in Target's history. The 3.1 million-square-foot campus, sitting on 240 acres, also includes an import warehouse and two additional import warehouse buildings in Ontario, running as one mutually supporting business unit.
