Recognizing that teachers often use their personal funds to provide supplies for their classrooms, ShopKo has announced all teachers will receive a 15 percent discount on purchases for an entire day at ShopKo. All 138 ShopKo and ShopKo Express stores will participate in the event on Wednesday, August 9.
“We wanted to reward teachers for the extra things they do for their students,” said Paul White, ShopKo president. “This discount day is one way we can save teachers a little money and help stretch the resources in their classrooms.”
This is the first year ShopKo has offered a “teacher discount day.” Teachers should show their identification (teacher/school ID) at checkout.
In addition to the one-time shopping discount, ShopKo is also sponsoring a teacher appreciation sweepstakes. Teachers can register on-line at ShopKo website for the chance to win a $500 ShopKo gift card for one teacher and his or her school. 150 teachers will win a $20 ShopKo gift card.
The register-to-win contest is open to teachers 21 years of age or older working as a full-time registered teacher in grade(s) K-12 in a school with a 501(C)(3) tax exempt status in a state where ShopKo has a store. No purchase is necessary to win. The contest ends on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
