Spring to bring the fall of Altavista textile plant

Due to sourcing from Asian markets, an International Textiles Group formed in 2004 is planning to close its plant in Altavista next spring leaving its 500 workers jobless.
Some workers will be offered transfers to North Carolina, although production will continue at the Pittsylvania County plant till next June.
