The Board of Directors of Eastman Chemical Company has elected Lewis M. Kling as a Director. Kling, 61, is President and CEO of Flowserve Corporation, a manufacturer of pumps, valves, seals and components for the process industries.
"We are pleased to have Lewis join Eastman's board," said Brian Ferguson, Chairman and CEO. "He has an extensive background in industrial products, services and technology that will enhance the overall capabilities of our board."
Kling will serve in the class of Directors for which the term in office expires at Eastman's annual meeting of stockholders in May 2009.
Kling has served as CEO and a Director of Flowserve since August 2005. He joined Flowserve as Chief Operating Officer in 2004. Before joining Flowserve, he was group President and Corporate Vice President of SPX Corporation.
From 1997 to 1999, he served as President of Dielectric Communications, a division of General Signal Corporation, which was purchased by SPX.
Prior to joining General Signal, Kling was Senior Vice President and General Manager of AlliedSignal Aerospace's commercial avionics systems and Chairman of the board of American Russian Integrated Avionics JV.
Before that, he served as Vice President and General Manager of Harris Corporation's electronic systems division. He began his career in the Apollo support department at General Electric Company, where he served for 24 years in a number of management positions.
