On October 23, China's biggest private footwear enterprise Aokang declared that they had formally appointed a lawyer to bring up the litigation against the anti-dumping measures made by EU over Chinese footwear.
They are the first Chinese firm to proceed against the decision by EU since October 7 when EU formally started to impose 16.5 percent anti-dumping duty over Chinese footwear for two years.
It is learned that the anti-dumping measures by EU will strongly impact Chinese footwear manufacturers, especially small firms.
Some industrial insiders predict, in the coming two years, the export quantity of Chinese leather shoes to EU will reduce sharply by over 40 percent, and thus causing a great deal of footwear workers to lose their jobs.
AoKang, located at Wenzhou,Zhejing, is China's biggest private footwear enterprise. The company produced 13 million pair shoes last year, among which, 3 million pairs exported abroad.
Pu Lingchen, 45, from Qingdao, Shandong, has been formally engaged by Aokang group. He worked successively as university professor in Belgium, the US, England and Holland after he acquired his LLM from Belgium, meanwhile he also served as a partner or a lawyer in law firms.
He returned home in 2003 and joined Beijing Guantao lawyer firm. Since 1992, he has deputized more than 40 anti-dumping cases, so he is known as 'China's first anti-dumping case lawyer'.
