Carter & Mayes to reuse Scotland Neck cotton factory

Shirt maker Carter & Mayes Inc will construct a new unit in Scotland Neck at an investment of US $1 million over next two years. Factory is expected to employ more than 115 people.

Vice President Harry Candland informed the media that Carter & Mayes wants to commence new operations in North Carolina to tap the service sector having good growth opportunity.

N C Rural Economic Development Center has given the company a grant of $50,000 to reuse the former Scotland Neck Cotton Mills plant.

Raw yarn produced by Carter & Mayes Inc in Sanford will be knitted, dyed and embroidered at Scotland Neck plant.

Based in West Virginia's Paden City, Carter & Mayes has produced uniforms for service sector as well as garments for at least 39 years.
