Indo Rama Synthetics India Ltd has begun operations at its polyester staple fibre (PSF) plant. Trial production of its new PSF lines started on March 9, 2007 while commercial production will start soon.

Indo Rama had undertaken a project to expand production capacity from 3,00,000 tons per annum to 6,00,000 tons per annum by setting up two Continuous Polymerization (CP) units, each having a capacity of 400 tpd (1,50,000 tons per annum).

One facility would conduct POY production and the other PSF production. Both units have been constructed at Butibori in Nagpur, with commercial production of POY lines beginning from November 1, 2006.

Commercial production of PSF lines will enable Indo Rama's overall polyester manufacturing capacity to reach 6,00,000 tons per annum.
