Texas heated up and dried out from the recent excessive rains. In the West, a cooler, more comfortable surge worked into the West Coast and across the Rockies. Scattered showers and thunderstorms were frequent in the Eastern Rockies with the summer monsoon; also occasionally wet in the Pacific Northwest.
Consumer Impact in the East/Mid-Western North America: Summer demand levels (e.g. A/C, summer apparel, cold beverages) were very high given the excessive heat and humidity in most locations. Consumers flocked to malls and indoor venues.
Consumer Impact in the Western Portions of North America: After weeks of strong summer demand, relatively cooler temperatures likely decreased that torrid trend. However, the more moderate conditions aided in improved store traffic and outdoor activities in general.
