One product recalled for impermissible levels of lead, and Polly Pocket magnet recall expanded.
Sears Canada Inc has been advised by Mattel Inc of an expanded recall of toys. Mattel Inc has identified a potential safety hazard relating to a toy from the "CARS" die-cast vehicle line sold between May 2007 and August 2007.
Surface paints on the "Sarge" toy might contain impermissible levels of lead which may be toxic if ingested by a young child. This recall expands upon Mattel's toy recall of select Fisher-Price toys on August 2, 2007.
Mattel Inc has also announced the voluntary recall of the following magnetic toys: Polly Pocket! dolls, playsets and accessories, Barbie and Tanner magnetic toys, Batman and One Piece magnetic action figure sets and Doggie Day Care magnetic toys.
It has been discovered that small, powerful magnets inside these toys can fall out and could be harmful to children if swallowed or aspirated.
The affected toys were manufactured between 2002 and January 31, 2007. This recall expands upon Mattel's voluntary recall of toys in November 2006.
In the interest of consumer safety, Sears Canada advises customers who own an affected product to immediately stop children from playing with them.
Mattel will assist customers in arranging the return of their affected toy and will also mail to customers a voucher for a replacement toy of the customer's choice, up to the value of the returned product.
Sears Canada will be posting signs in all of its department stores to advise customers of this safety recall. Sears Canada is bringing this matter to the public's attention in the interest of consumer safety and regrets any inconvenience that may be experienced by our customers.
