Basic goods discount retailer Dollar General Corporation has named Challis M. Lowe as its Executive Vice President (EVP) of Human Resources (HR).
Lowe previously served as the executive vice president responsible for human resources, corporate communications and public affairs at Miami-based Ryder System Inc.
She has also held executive leadership positions at Beneficial Management Corporation, Heller International, Sanwa Business Credit Corporation and Continental Illinois Corporation. Her appointment at Dollar General is effective September 1, 2005.

Lowe received her MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. She currently serves as Chair of the Board of trustees of Florida A&M University, and she is a member of the board of directors of the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation and the Executive Leadership Council.
