EmbroidMe, the world's largest embroidery franchise, has a new store at 411 E. Huntington Dr., Suite 113, under the ownership of local residents Desiree Alvarado and Ruben Cardenas.

Before becoming EmbroidMe franchisees, Desiree was a program director and manager for USC and CSU Los Angeles and Ruben was a senior auditor for FedEx for four years and an audit supervisor for Metro for five and a half years.

"Discovering EmbroidMe came at a perfect time in our lives because we needed the flexibility for our kids combined with the potential to replace or exceed our current income," says Ruben.

Ruben's mother, Silvina, and the Cardenas' goddaughter, Jessica, also work in the store. They have two children: Daniela, two-and-a-half years old, and Jarod, four.

With more than 450 retail locations worldwide, EmbroidMe provides full-service custom embroidery and screen-printing for apparel, as well as promotional products and gifts to both the private and commercial segments of the business community.
