New Jersey based textile polymer products, textile fiber, staple, polyester and resins for packaging maker company Wellman Inc announced that it has temporarily stopped production at its Pearl River facility located in Hancock County, Mississippi in anticipation of hurricane Katrina.

The facility has an annual PET Resin production capacity of 500 million pounds. Production at the facility was stopped in an orderly manner and will resume as soon as possible. Wellman will continue to service its PET resin customers from its Darlington, South Carolina facility and from existing inventory.

Wellman Inc manufactures and markets high-quality polyester products, including PermaClear brand PET (polyethylene terephthalate) packaging resins and Fortrel brand polyester fibers. We believe we are one of the world's largest PET plastic recyclers, utilizing a significant amount of recycled raw materials in our manufacturing operations.
