DuPont Fort Madison Iowa celebrates 70th anniversary

The DuPont Fort Madison site in Iowa recently held an open house to celebrate 70 years of continuous operation. The event was open to the public and more than 1,300 visitors enjoyed activities including guided plant tours, exhibits, food and photos taken with the DuPont No. 24 car.
"It was a memorable day that exceeded all of our expectations," said Linda Marshall, manager, Fort Madison. "Comments from the visitors were positive and they seemed to enjoy the day."
Exhibits showcased products that include dispersions made at the site, such as DuPont Nomex flightsuits and DuPont Corian countertops. DuPont Artistri inks, created from the site's polymer and dispersion technologies, were used to create room-size images on textile media.
The Fort Madison site began as a paint and coatings plant in 1937. It no longer produces paint, but supplies polymers to DuPont Performance Coatings. It also manufactures specialty colorants and pigmented inks for DuPont Digital Printing Systems.
