Saint Louis based carpet fiber maker Solutia Inc is going to increase the price on all nylon carpet fiber products by 8 to 12 percent for all shipments on or after October 1, 2005.
"During the course of the summer, the prices of our oil-based raw materials and energy sources have reached new and sustained high levels. They have been discussing these factors with our customers over the past several months, and are now increasing our prices in order to reflect this new reality," stated Jonathon Wright, Senior Vice President, Solutia Inc, and President of Solutia's Integrated Nylon Division.
"In addition, if Hurricane Katrina's impact on the nation's refining capacity causes future temporary increases in these costs, they may implement raw material and/or energy surcharges, which would be announced separately."
Leading specialty chemical manufacturer maker Solutia offers specialty products including glass and window products, drug development, resins, additives, carpet fiber, chemicals.
