Westlake Chemical to move out damaged tanker car

Vertically integrated fabricated products producer Westlake Chemical Corporation announces the tank car leak in Cincinnati has been completely and safely contained. The leak, which started on Sunday, resulted in no known injuries or property damage.

Environmental authorities have determined that the emission levels did not pose a health risk to nearby residents. The tank car will be removed from the site today and transported to Westlake's facility at Lake Charles, Louisiana, for further review and analysis.

Westlake Chemical has set up a claims process for residents and business owners who were evacuated from the area or suffered damages.

Westlake Chemical is not involved with the claims process set up by the Indiana & Ohio Railway.

"They want to express our gratitude to the fire and police departments and other members of the emergency response team," stated Warren W. Wilder, Vice President of olefins and styrene for Westlake. "They did a spectacular job. They had also like to express the appreciation to the people of Cincinnati for their patience in this matter. They know this has been a serious concern to residents. They are thankful that the situation has been safely resolved."

Westlake has and will continue to provide full cooperation with city, state and federal officials in reviewing this situation.
