Energy, petrol fuel price hike in Wellman Inc polyester staple fiber products

New Jersey based textile polymer products, textile fiber, staple, polyester and resins for packaging maker company Wellman Inc announced that due to the catastrophic events in the United States Gulf Coast, the cost and availability of chemicals and energy have become very uncertain. Energy, transportation and petroleum-based chemical costs had already begun to escalate prior to the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.
The current uncertainties surrounding the availability and cost of raw materials and other chemicals have greatly exacerbated the situation. Effective with September 7, 2005 shipments, Wellman Inc is increasing the price of all polyester staple fiber products by 16 cents per pound.
This action is necessary in order to recover the unprecedented increases in chemical and energy costs that are incurring. Wellman Inc will closely monitor the continuing impact of Hurricane Katrina on these costs and will provide timely updates to customers.
