The South Indian Textile group Ramco & owners of Rajapalayam Mills Ltd (RML) is planning to expand production capacity of its cotton yarn spinning units at Jaggyapet in Andhra Pradesh & near Madurai in Tamilnadu. The project entails an investment of Rs500 crores, which will be used for investment in machinery & buildings etc.
An official from the company told Fibre2fashion, “Our current capacity is 3 lakh spindles and we are all set to add one more lakh spindles to that in Tamilnadu. We will also install 22 high speed open end machines, which means 7700 rotors at Jaggyapet.”
He explained, “Currently, we are producing 60 – 80 count combed cotton yarns on the 3 lakh spindles & planning the same for the 1 lakh spindles and for open end spinning we are planning 4 – 30 count cotton yarn.”
This project is expected to be operational by August next year.
