Safexpress Pvt Ltd in association with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organized a Global Conference on “Winning with Intelligent Supply Chains – WISC 2007”.
The conference was graced with the presence of Dr. Raghuvansh P. Singh, Hon'ble Union Minister for Rural Development, Government of India; Mr. Rajan Bharti Mittal, Chairman FICCI Retail Committee & Managing Director, Bharti Enterprises Ltd; Mr. Pawan Jain, CMD Safexpress, Dr. Amit Mitra, Sec-Gen FICCI and Mr. K.S. Narayanaswamy, Joint Director, FICCI.
Mr. Pawan Jain, CMD, SAFEXPRESS Pvt. Ltd, emphasizing the need for strong Supply Chain Management said, “Today, Retail chains are working to meet the demands of the customers without any delays, while maintaining their profits at the same time.
And this has become possible only due to the specialized Supply Chain Management Services provided by companies like us.”
Mr. Pawan Jain, further added “Launched in 1997, Safexpress is presently a Rs.500 crores group. Growing at a rate of 35 per cent, we are targeting Rs 1,000 crores turnover by 2010.
This would be attained by investing heavily in setting up Logistics Parks in 32 different cities across India, adding 7 million sq. ft of warehousing space to our existing 3 million sq. ft, adding more trucks to our current fleet of 3,300 vehicles and leasing aircrafts to expand our air cargo operations”.
In the two day conference, different subjectsbased on the opportunities in the retail sector, constraints for the supply chain industry, measures to be taken by the supply chain industry were discussed by the prominent business personalities of the retail, supply chain and IT industry.
