DWR appoints Tara Poseley as President & CEO, from Oct 1

San Francisco based home accessories provider Design Within Reach announced the appointment of Tara Poseley as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1. Poseley (40) joined Design Within Reach in August 2004 as the Vice President of Merchandising responsible for the overall strategic direction of the Company's product offerings, management of the buying team and relations with vendors. Her career in the retail industry began in 1989 at Gap Inc, where she spent 15 years and served in various senior merchandising, planning, production, distribution and strategy roles, as well as product development.
Current Chief Executive Officer Wayne Badovinus will continue to serve on Design Within Reach's Board of Directors and will assume the role of Chairman from John Hansen, who will remain on the board.
"During my tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer, they have accomplished many of objectives, including creating a unique, integrated marketplace for modern design," said Badovinus. "The foundation for the next phase of the business is securely in place and I am confident that Tara and the rest of our senior management team will continue to enhance operating platform to maximize revenue and profitability. Due to personal reasons, I will be leaving my position as Chief Executive Officer and President, but I am excited to maintain an active role as Chairman and to continue to mentor Tara."
Badovinus continued, "They are delighted that Tara has proven herself ready to step into the CEO position. Since joining Design Within Reach, she has thoroughly familiarized herself with modern design furnishings and accessories and was the principal architect of the Company's new merchandising strategy, including the partnership with KNOLL that broadened assortment of classic modern furnishings and the introduction of exclusive bedding collection. Tara has worked closely with me to understand Design Within Reach's overall strategy and we think she will do a tremendous job."
