High performance fiber-based materials marketer Ahlstrom Corporation announced that it will be adding proprietary nanofiber production capabilities in North America (NA), particularly for its Filtration portfolio.
This new line will allow Ahlstrom to apply nanofibers on a variety of filtration and nonwoven media that it produces. Nanofibers are recognized in filtration to enhance the efficiency and life cycles of filters, while maintaining other key performance characteristics.
Randal Davis, Sr. VP Filtration commented that the addition of this technology to Ahlstrom's portfolio will bring significant advantages across their global product offering. Not only will their traditional engine filtration media be enhanced, but they plan on bringing nanofibers to other applications in air and liquid filtration.
The line will be located in Ahlstrom's Madisonville, USA plant and will serve markets globally. It is planned to be operational by early 2006.
Scott Murdock, VP Filtration North America added that they have been developing the technology for the past three years through a consortium of experts in the field. The investment gives Ahlstrom an internal platform, strategically located in one of their filtration research centers. It will allow us to work in close collaboration with their customers to develop and deliver the best solutions for the market.
