Ohio based specialty chemical marketer OMNOVA Solution announced that its 1,800 employees raised $41,500 company-wide to support the American Red Cross'(ARC) Relief Fund for Hurricane Katrina. The OMNOVA Solutions Foundation, bringing the total to $83,000, matched that figure.
"I'm very proud of this outpouring of support which is tremendous for a company size," said Kevin McMullen, OMNOVA Solutions Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "It really shows what a caring group of people have at OMNOVA Solutions. They're also fortunate to have a charitable foundation that can match contributions, allowing us to double the difference we can make for those whose lives have been so dramatically changed by the devastating events in the gulf."
OMNOVA Solutions has plants in two of the affected states -- Mississippi and Alabama -- although the facilities were far enough inland to avoid damage.
Leading decorative and functional surfaces and performance chemicals producer of OMNOVA Solutions Inc is a technology-based company with 2004 sales of $746 million and a current workforce of 1,850 employees worldwide.
