Ahlstrom has invested in a new carded needlepunch line from Oerlikon Neumag for its production site in Bethune, South Carolina, USA.

The turnkey project includes a fiber opening & blending line and F.O.R. carding, Autefa crosslapping with WebMax technology followed by Fehrer needle punching.

The line is operated and controlled with Oerlikon Neumag operating software integrating the technologies with closed loop logic for optimized felt uniformity.

The engineering of this “systems supply” project was also under the direction and coordination of the Oerlikon Neumag carded group, with the line scheduled for start-up in the summer of 2008.

The focus of the production is for technical felts, many of which will be for the automotive filtration market.
