Rising costs prompt synthetic nonwovens Co Colbond to hike prices

Flooring synthetic nonwovens producer Colbond will increase prices worldwide for their entire product range due to rising raw material, energy, and transportation costs, effective January 1, 2006. The company is in the process of informing all of their customers.

Axel Poscher, Colbond Vice President informed that the last time our prices increased in January 2005, we were very modest in our calculations, hoping that energy costs would level out and raw material and transportation prices would stabilize.

However, that has not been the case due to unfortunate situations affecting the world's oil and energy supply as well as continued global demand pressure on petrochemical ingredients. They have no choice but to pass part of these cost increases on to our customers as we see no indications that this situation will change in the near future.

Since January 2003 polyester, polyamide, and polypropylene chip prices have steadily increased. Innovative research is being conducted within Colbond to provide customers with long term solutions to raw material pricing concerns.

Arnhem based globally active in synthetic nonwovens manufacturer Colbond produces high-quality synthetic nonwovens for flooring, automotive, and construction applications and three-dimensional polymeric mats and composites for civil engineering, building and industrial applications. The company has production facilities in the Netherlands, Germany and the United States. Colbond Nonwovens' global approach is to supply the customers with the best possible products and services and to provide added value to their products.
