Huntsman to restart its major PO/MTBE unit in Texas

Texas based Leading commodity and differentiated chemical manufacturer & marketer Huntsman announced that it has restarted its major Propylene Oxide/MTBE manufacturing facility in Port Neches, Texas, which it had idled before Hurricane Rita came ashore.
The facility sustained no major structural damage in the storm but did require some repair and, as with all of Jefferson County, Texas where the eye of the hurricane hit, had been hindered by a lack of electrical power.
President and CEO, Peter R. Huntsman, commented, "They continue to make steady progress in bringing their hurricane-impacted facilities back on line. They are grateful to their associates who are working safely and efficiently to help us remain ahead of their start-up schedule."
The Company restarted its Lake Charles, Louisiana titanium dioxide plant and its Port Neches, Texas butadiene facility on Monday of this week.
