Federated Department Stores adds Roche & Stiritz to its BOD

Joyce M Roche and William P Stiritz have been elected to the Board of Directors of Federated Department Stores Inc Roche is President and Chief Executive Officer of Girls Incorporated. Stiritz, Chairman of the board of Energizer Holdings Inc and Ralcorp Holdings Inc, is the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ralston Purina Company, having served in that position from 1981 to 1997.
Roche and Stiritz were Directors of The May Department Stores Company at the time of May's merger with Federated in August 2005. Stiritz's term as a Director of Federated begins Roche's term begins February 23, 2006. Both will stand for re-election at Federated's 2006 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.
'Joyce Roche and Bill Stiritz will strengthen their board with their expertise and insight into corporate governance, sound business practices, marketing and consumer behavior,' said Terry J. Lundgren, Federated's Chairman, Presidentand Chief Executive Officer. 'Obviously, their knowledge of the May Company organization and best practices is of particular interest. Both have extensive experience as directors for some of their country's leading corporations as well as a depth of management expertise.'
Roche, 58, joined the May Company board in 2003. She is also a director of Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc, SBC Communications Inc and Tupperware Corporation Stiritz, 71, joined the May Board in 1983 and is also a director of Energizer, Ralcorp, Ball Corporation, and Vail Resorts Inc In addition, he has previously served as a director of Angelica Corporation, Boatmen's Bancshares Inc, General American Life Insurance Company, and S C Johnson & Son Inc.
