'Creatives Care T-shirt' by Veer
Visual elements & design-related products provider Veer announced the release of a special edition Creatives Care T-shirt to help raise funds for hurricane victims in the United States.
The T-shirt features the words Creatives Care hand-lettered by Marian Bantjes. Profits from the Creatives Care campaign will be divided between the AIGA's Displaced Designer program and the American Red Cross. The T-shirt sells for $22 USD and is available at: veer.com/care
Sheldon Popiel, Creative Director at Veer explains that this T-shirt is a small way for Veer to help bring the design community together .They felt helpless watching the tragedies unfold and needed to do something. Veer reaches hundreds of thousands of design professionals through their monthly catalogs and other communications - so they thought they could use that reach to help. They think good things can happen when the design community is beckoned.
The Creatives Care campaign builds on the popularity of Veer merchandise - a selection of designer-friendly apparel, books, and accessories for sale at veer.com/merch. Veer takes a discriminating, design-driven approach to visual elements, sourcing its images and type from leading and emerging brands around the world, and the same approach applies to the company's merchandise.
Marian Bantjes tells that when Veer contacted me to do this project, he was happy to help. He started the design in a blackletter style, then softened and smoothed it over several sketches. It features a forward movement, but also feeds back into itself, which could be a metaphor for the potential momentum of the campaign.
