Wal-Mart announces 3.8% rise in Q3 income

Online merchandiser Wal-Mart Stores Inc reported record third quarter sales and earnings for the quarter ended October 31, 2005.

Net sales were $75.4 billion, an increase of 10.1 percent over the third quarter of fiscal 2005.

Net income for the quarter was $2.4 billion, an increase of 3.8 percent from $2.3 billion in the third quarter of fiscal 2005.

Earnings per share were $0.57, up from $0.54 per share in the same prior year quarter.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc operates Wal-Mart Stores, Supercenters, Neighborhood Markets and SAM'S CLUB locations in the United States.

The company operates in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, South Korea and the United Kingdom.
