Some textile retailers are getting labels of renowned international brands from Dubai and sticking on cheap garments imported from China and selling them at sky-high prices, informed media agency.

For example, a garment priced QR15 is found to be sold for QR180 and it carried a label of a prominent global brand.

The report warned buyers to be careful while buying clothes and try to ensure that it is imported directly from manufacturers rather than being brought here from Dubai.

This practice is also carried out for many electronic gadgets and mobile phones. While some dealers replace chargers of branded mobile sets, which cost QR80 with cheaper ones costing QR5.

Markets in Qatar are swamped by goods imported from Dubai and buyers, who want to purchase consumer items, mainly electronic items and garments, need to be very watchful.
