Michigan based chemical maker The Dow Chemical Company announced the election of Geoffery E. Merszei, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), to the Board of Directors, effective immediately. Merszei will serve on the Finance Committee of Dow's Board.
"Geoffery is not only a dynamic leader; he brings a wealth of diverse experiences in international finance to our Board. His more than two decades of Dow experience, added to his experience at Alcan, will combine to be of tremendous benefit to Board," said William S. Stavropoulos, Chairman of Dow's Board.
Merszei first joined Dow in 1977 as a credit manager and progressed through various roles in the Finance organization, becoming Vice President and Treasurer in 1996.
In 2001, he moved to Alcan Inc and served four years as Executive Vice President and CFO. Merszei returned to Dow as Executive Vice President in July 2005, and became CFO in October. He also serves on the Dow Corning Corporation Board of Directors.
Merszei is a member of the Conference Board committee of the council of Financial Executives and a member of the Corporate Executive Board Working Council for Chief Financial Officers. He received a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Albion College, Michigan.
