Vietnam Textile and Garment Association informed that some investors are not ready to expand production due to frequent refusals to work.

According to MoLISA, from 1996 to the end of the first quarter of 2006, 1,056 strikes occurred and 60 percent were at textile-garment and footwear enterprises.

Smelling the seriousness of situation, Government is keen to know how labour agencies are dealing with the problem of repeated strikes.

In this connection, the PM office will form a working group on strikes and it will report to Prime Minister Phan Van Khai.

Government will also create an inter-ministerial team of officials from the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and the Vietnam Confederation of Labour, said MoLISA Deputy Minister Le Duy Dong.

The group will assist provincial agencies to tackle the problems by visiting the provinces and cities where strikes have occurred.
