Barcodes maker plans to shift production in China

New York based barcodes and tags maker Paxar informs by the end of the year, company will reduce its work force. Company will lay off 112 workers from its Caldwell County plant.

The Caldwell plant makes apparel labels and tags. Company decides to shift some production to China.

Paxar takes this decision due to the ongoing offshore competition and the efforts to sustain profit margins.

Sources said that in last fall, company announced to move domestic apparel-related production overseas in next two years.

Currently, Paxar have about 532 employees in Lenoir facility. Paxar plans to bring in a support team to help affected employees.
