Saudi women have a reason to celebrate as Government has decided to allow them to work in lingerie shops.
This step is expected to expand job opportunities for women, who would replace male sales representatives in lingerie shops from next month.
Cabinet has decided to allow women to work in this economic activity, Labour Minister Dr Ghazi al Ghosaibi said.
The decision will be implemented in two phases: first phase begins on June 18 including sales jobs in shops along main streets, central market and in major shopping centres restricted to Saudi women.
Second phase, which is to start in 2007, would provide jobs in shops selling abayas (traditional clothing for Muslim women) and women's readymade dresses.
