Alabama reports 500 job loss in textile mill

Influence of the ongoing downtrend in the textile industry in the US has been observed in Alabama state as well.

In March 2005, number of employees were 12000, from which 500 have been discharged this year, reducing the number to 11500.

Within a span of just about one year the state textile industry lost nearly 500 jobs.

Bureau of Labor Statistics has revealed that from around 203,400 people employed in this industry across the country, almost 20,500 posts were dismissed recording a 9.2 percent fall in March 2005.

North Carolina recorded the biggest drop, shedding 6,400 textile jobs or 11.2 percent since March 2005.
