Garment workers want minimum wage of Tk3,000 a month and this demand is backed by leaders of Garment Sramik and Shilpa Rakhya Jatiya Mancha (GSSRJM).
GSSRJM comprises sixteen organization of garment workers who have also threatened to go on 24-hour strike on June 12, across the country.
Sardar Khorshed, General Secretary of GSSRJM said that looking at dissatisfaction level among workers, Government and factory owners agreed to revise the wage structure.
Khorshed also said, "Actually garment factory owners are not sincere enough in settling the wage structure in the private industries."
He stated that if Government do not take this issue seriously then workers can take tough stand.
Leaders of the workers organization sought a five-point demands to be addressed immediately.
Higher minimum wage through a wage board, maternity leave, issuance of identity cards, weekly holiday and arrangements for emergency exits were among the demand raised.
