Sai Gon leather shoes company has returned 4.8 billion VND or US $300,000 to its workers in the form of additional salary fund that the company had illegally taken hold of.
According to local authorities, fund worth 8 billion VND ($500,000) was created by slashing the salary of the workers for many years.
This fund is illegal and should be returned to the workers in accordance with Vietnam's legal laws.
On June 28, Nguyen Bao Tho, Director of the company issued a Regulation No. 481/QC-TH concerning “Returning the plus salary fund to workers of Sai Gon leather shoes company” and releasing the amount of $4.8 billion VND.
However, the workers are still protesting and want the local authorities to pressurize the company to open up the entire sum of 8 billion VND.
Because of this situation, production operations of the company have been adversely affected.
