Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has ensured relaxation for the workers from daily and weekly work hours.

Government is making vital changes in Contract Labour Act to provide labour flexibility for export oriented textile units.

Government also asked textile manufacturers to ensure employment guarantee to the workers as per the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP), under which they have to give 100 working days a year and pay of Rs60 a day.

Chief Ministers of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu will meet on July 25 in New Delhi to discuss issue of increasing the daily work hours from 7 to 12 and weekly hours from 48 to 60.

In next two years, investment about 15,000-20,000 crore is likely to come up in textile parks.
