In the past decade, 379 sick textile mills have been closed down affecting the lives of 200,000 workers.
Tamil Nadu is the biggest sufferer with 106 mills closed there while Maharashtra saw the closure of 48 mills followed by 46 in Gujarat.
Minister of State for Textiles, E V K S Elangovan informed that Rs100 crore had already been disbursed to the affected workers under the Textile Workers Rehabilitation Fund Scheme in the same period.
