Bhutan, Bangladesh sign initial MoU on trade transit facilities

Bhutan is expected to get direct road connectivity with China in future.

Bhutan’s trade, industries and employment minister Karma Dorji and Bangladesh commerce minister Tipu Munshi signed the initial MoU in Thimphu.

Munshi hoped that the agreement will pave the way for smooth trade between the two sides, a news agency reported citing a commerce ministry statement.

After Bhutan dropped out of the Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, and Nepal Motor Vehicles Agreement, it proposed a bilateral transit agreement with Bangladesh. The countries held meetings and drafted an agreement and protocol in September 2022.
