In the textile trade, China is a prominent market for Brazilian cotton, while Brazil is one of the most important markets for Chinese apparel and fabric. Brazil is a significant global cotton producer and exporter, whereas China is a manufacturing powerhouse in textile products.
As a major cotton-producing and exporting country, Brazil’s exports of the natural fibre reached $1,435.165 million between January and September 2024. During this period, Brazil exported 758.485 million kg of cotton, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
In 2023, Brazil’s cotton exports amounted to $1,498.919 million, with an export volume of 775.219 million kg. Earlier, in 2022, Brazil exported 521.499 million kg of cotton valued at $1,082.756 million.
On the other hand, China exported apparel worth $996.593 million to Brazil in the first three quarters of the current year. Chinese apparel exports to Brazil were valued at $1,221.958 million in 2023 and $1,060.061 million in 2022, as per TexPro.
China’s fabric exports to Brazil amounted to $1,332.126 million in the first nine months of this year. In 2023, China exported fabric worth $1,587.170 million, while the figure stood at $1,512.708 million in 2022.
