Thailand’s fabric exports to Cambodia were valued at $65.891 million in the first seven months of the current year, comprising 10.76 per cent of Thailand's total fabric exports in this period. Vietnam is Thailand's largest market, accounting for 23 per cent of its fabric exports. Myanmar, Bangladesh, and China also rank among the top five markets for Thailand's fabric exports, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
Conversely, Cambodia contributes minimally to Thailand's fabric imports, which stood at $2.245 million in the first seven months of the year, representing just 0.32 per cent of Thailand's total fabric imports of $707.848 million. China, Vietnam, Taiwan, India, and Japan are Thailand’s top five fabric suppliers, with China supplying over 50 per cent of the country's fabric imports.
Cambodia is one of the leading garment exporters globally and relies heavily on fabric imports to support its garment industry. Although Thailand is also a garment-exporting country, its total garment exports trail behind Cambodia’s. Nonetheless, Thailand maintains a substantial volume of fabric exports after meeting domestic demand.
As per TexPro, Thailand's apparel exports reached $1.271 billion in the first seven months of the current year, while total garment exports for the previous year were valued at $2.055 billion. Cambodia's garment exports amounted to $7.571 billion from January to September 2024 and $11.259 billion in 2023.
