Cambodia's fabric imports from Thailand dip in H1 2023

The country had imported 10.176 million kg of fabric valued at $88.952 million in the first half of 2022. The average price was noted at $8.74 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro. 

In January-July 2023, Cambodia imported a total of 5.869 million kg of fabric valued at $55.495 million at an average price of $9.46 per kg. Last year, the total imports stood at 17.578 million kg, valued at $157.03 million, with an average price of $8.93 per kg. 

The country’s fabric imports from Thailand were 15.758 million kg valued at $123.261 million at an average price $7.82 per kg in 2021. In 2020, the imports were 12.791 million kg valued at $108.891 million (average price $8.51 per kg), and in 2019, they were 15.189 million kg valued at $133.666 million (average price $8.80 per kg), as per TexPro. 

Interestingly, fabric imports from Thailand made up a minor portion, only 2.9 per cent, of Cambodia's total fabric imports, which amounted to $1,790.868 million in the first half of 2023. Other significant fabric suppliers for Cambodia include China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
