China’s largest land port, Manzhouli, experienced a substantial increase in China-Europe freight train trade in 2022. The port processed 4,818 China-Europe freight trains, representing a 37.6 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase, as per data released by the customs of Manzhouli in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.The freight trains carried 382,058 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo, with a total value of 48.66 billion yuan ($7 billion), representing YoY increases of 38.6 per cent and 36.5 per cent, respectively.
Manzhouli currently handles 57 China-Europe freight train routes that reach 28 cities in 11 European countries. This accounts for about 30 per cent of the total freight volume of China-Europe freight train services.
