China's cotton yarn imports down 3.6% in Jan-July

Total import of cotton yarn by China declined 3.6 per cent to 1.18 million tons in the first seven months of 2019, compared to the same period of last year, according to customs statistics. On the other hand, export of cotton yarn also decreased by 5.1 per cent year-on-year to 239,500 tons during the seven-month period, the customs data showed.

There was a sharp decline of 25 per cent year-on-year in China's July cotton yarn imports, which dropped to 150,000 tons. In terms of month-on-month comparison, the drop was 6.25 per cent.

Meanwhile, China's cotton yarn exports in July fell 17.3 per cent year-on-year and 25.38 per cent month-on-month to 28,200 tons. (RKS)
