According to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro, China exported fabric at an average price of $1.93 per square metre during January–November 2024, which was 3 per cent lower than the 2023 average price of $1.99 per square metre. The decline was more pronounced for fabric exported by weight, where the average price dropped 8 per cent, from $10.53 per kg in 2023 to $9.65 per kg in 2024.
The average prices of fabric exported from China to Cambodia were recorded at $2.02 per square metre and $11.02 per kg in 2021. Prices surged in 2022 to $2.19 per square metre and $12.13 per kg before declining to $1.99 per square metre and $10.53 per kg in 2023. The downward trend has continued in 2024.
As per TexPro, China exported 1,939.456 million square metres of fabric in January-November 2024. Another 22.981 million kg fabric was also shipped by the country in the same period. In comparison, the country had exported 1,559.647 million square metres and 18.389 million kg of fabric in 2023. Similarly, 1,493.435 million square metres and 18.056 million kg fabric was exported in 2022, and 1,529.767 million square metres and 16.446 million kg in 2021.
The total value of China’s fabric exports to Cambodia stood at $3,971.768 million in the first 11 months of 2024. Shipments were valued at $3,300.888 million in 2023, $3,493 million in 2022, and $3,265.923 million in 2021.
